Process for Flower Preservation

How flower preservation works

Flower preservation is a slow, natural process, and every piece is created with great care and intention.

Once your flowers arrive, bouquets are gently deconstructed and each bloom is assessed individually. Petals and flowers are carefully pressed or air-dried, depending on the type of bloom, to best preserve their colour and structure. More flowers are preserved than needed so that only the strongest and most beautiful blooms are used in your final design.

Once fully dried, flowers are carefully reconstructed petal by petal using flower-safe adhesive. Your design is then thoughtfully arranged, and a photo is sent to you for approval before anything is set in place. You’ll always have the opportunity to request layout changes or the removal of specific blooms at this stage.

Only once approved is the design fixed and set within its frame.

Any leftover stems, blooms, or petals are also preserved and carefully packaged to be returned to you. Within the PDF guide provided after booking, you’ll find care instructions along with ideas for how these preserved pieces can be used or kept as additional keepsakes.

Getting your flowers to me

Flowers must be delivered within 1–3 days of your event to ensure the best possible outcome.

Local drop-off in Meadows is always my preferred option and will be recommended wherever possible. This allows your flowers to arrive quickly and safely, without the risks associated with postage.

If posting your flowers is required, Express Post is essential. Full, step-by-step packing and postage instructions will be provided once your booking is confirmed, to ensure your blooms arrive in the best condition possible. Postage costs are the responsibility of the customer.

Care instructions for your flowers on the day of your event will also be provided after booking, helping to minimise bruising and damage before delivery.

Frame and Design Options

Each preservation piece is designed individually, guided by your flowers, your story, and your preferences.

I offer a range of frame sizes and layouts suitable for bridal bouquets, memorial flowers, and custom designs. Designs may include full bouquets, feature blooms, initials, shapes, photographs, memorial cards, invitations, or other meaningful flat inclusions.

A gallery of past work is available for inspiration, but no two pieces are ever the same. Final layout decisions are made together during the proofing stage, once your flowers have been preserved and assessed.

Timeframe, Pricing and Booking

Flower preservation is a slow, natural process. Typical turnaround is approximately 3–4 months, depending on the size and complexity of your commission.

All bookings begin with an enquiry form (see below). Once your enquiry is reviewed and approved, a $150 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking. This deposit is payable via the website and confirms your place in the preservation schedule.

Once your flowers have been preserved and your design finalised, an invoice will be emailed to you outlining:

  • Number and size of frames
  • Frame styles and design layouts
  • Any special requests or inclusions
  • Drop-off, collection, or delivery details
  • Optional add-ons (such as baubles or other inclusions.

Every commission is entirely specific to you and your flowers.

The remaining balance is payable via bank transfer, with payment details included on the invoice. Final payment is due upon completion of your piece, prior to collection or delivery.

Important Notes

Flower preservation celebrates nature, and nature doesn’t stand still.

Please note all-white rose bouquets are not accepted

White flowers, particularly roses, do not remain white once dried. They commonly shift into shades of cream, beige, yellow, or brown. Roses are also highly susceptible to bruising, which often does not appear until days after the event.

Similarly, as flowers dry, colour changes are completely normal and expected. Some blooms transform in surprising and beautiful ways, often revealing tones that were hidden within the centre of the flower on the day of your event. For example; White delphiniums may dry with blue tones and red roses often deepen into rich burgundy shades.

These changes are part of the natural drying process, blooms moving through stages and revealing colour in the way nature intended.

To ensure you feel confident and happy with your piece, you’ll always receive a photo of the final design before it’s set in the frame. This is your chance to request any layout changes or the removal of specific blooms before completion.

Collection, Delivery and Postage

Local collection from Meadows is always my recommended option, due to the fragile and sentimental nature of your finished piece.

If postage is required, I can provide a quote through Australia Post, or you are welcome to arrange your own courier.

Local delivery is also available within 20km of Meadows for $15.

While every piece is carefully packaged, once an order is collected by or dispatched with a postal or courier service, it is outside of my control. For this reason, collection is always encouraged where possible.

Full details can be found in our Refund & Returns Policy.

Caring for your Flower Frame

Your preserved flower frame is designed to be enjoyed for many years with gentle care.

For best longevity:

  • Display your frame out of direct sunlight
  • Avoid areas with high humidity or moisture (such as bathrooms)
  • Keep away from heat sources and open flames
  • Clean the glass gently with a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth

Preserved flowers are delicate and should not be touched directly. Over time, natural ageing may occur, this is part of the beauty of working with real flowers.

Full care and display guidance will be provided once your booking is confirmed.
