Flower Preservation Process- Weddings and Special Events
Your Blooms and Keepsake Options
Each floral preservation piece is created slowly and thoughtfully, allowing time to honour the story behind your flowers. Blooms are carefully dried and preserved before being arranged into a custom frame designed to be timeless and meaningful.
I specialise in preserving a wide range of flowers, including wedding and elopement bouquets, memorial and sympathy blooms, birth flowers, and special occasion arrangements. Frames can also include meaningful flat keepsakes such as printed invitations, photographs, memorial cards, or other paper items you’d like to incorporate.
Because flowers are natural, no two pieces will ever be the same. Some colour softening, fading, or textural changes are part of the preservation process and add to the individuality of each piece. I always work with your blooms in a way that respects their natural form and highlights their beauty.
Getting Your Flowers to Me
I accept flowers Australia-wide. Blooms must be delivered to me within 1–3 days of your event to ensure the best possible preservation outcome.
Drop blooms directly to me at my home studio in Meadows, SA. Address provided upon booking.
If local drop-off isn’t an option, please express post your blooms to me at absolute soonest postage day/ time. A simple, step-by-step PDF guide will be sent to you after booking, gently walking you through how to pack and send your flowers so they arrive in the best possible condition. Please note, postage arrangements and costs are the responsibility of the customer.
For local weddings, many brides pre-organise a trusted person to collect and care for the bouquet/s, then deliver to me the following day... one less thing for you to think about on your wedding day!
Please note: postage costs are the responsibility of the customer.
Flower Suitability & Natural Changes
Not all flowers preserve the same way. All-white blooms will naturally dry into shades of off-white, cream, beige, or soft brown. I do not offer colour correction or petal painting, I honour the natural preservation process and allow blooms to dry as nature intends.
Most flowers can be separated and re-formed after pressing; however, some elements such as gum nuts, thick stems, and certain bulky blooms cannot be pressed. During the drying process, some petals or blooms may need to be discarded due to natural changes beyond my control. This is why I always recommend providing more blooms than you think you’ll need, so I can carefully select the best preserved pieces for your final artwork. I will let you know how many bouquets I will require for the size of your order.
If conditions allow and there are leftover dried blooms, these will be returned to you. The PDF guide provided after booking also includes ideas for using any remaining flowers.
If you’re unsure whether your flowers are suitable, you’re very welcome to reach out via the enquiry form below.
The Preservation Journey
Once your flowers arrive, I carefully separate and assess each bloom for suitability. Flowers are gently taken apart petal by petal and placed into the press. In the early stages, layers are checked and adjusted daily, then weekly, as the drying process continues.
Blooms typically take up to 12 weeks to fully dry, depending on flower type, thickness and seasonal conditions. Once pressed, I begin the slow and careful process of rebuilding each flower, petal by petal, using a flower-safe adhesive. I’ll reach out to you via email to let you know when this stage begins, at this point, your piece is usually a few weeks away from completion.
When all blooms are reconstructed, I design the layout within the frame and send you a photo for proofing. This is your opportunity to request small adjustments, such as repositioning or removing certain flowers. Once approved, the piece is secured into the frame and allowed time to cure.
I’ll then contact you to arrange local collection or postage. Postage quotes and payment are the responsibility of the customer. If using Australia Post, I’m happy to package and lodge your frame on your behalf, please note that once your item has been posted, responsibility for the piece transfers to you. Full details can be found in my Delivery & Returns Policy.
I can't wait to get your blooms back to you :)

Memorial Flower Preservation
Memorial Frames
I understand that memorial and sympathy flowers come with very different circumstances and timelines.
Due to the time-sensitive nature of memorial flowers, these bookings generally need to be arranged within a few days of the service, and availability is limited. Timelines, payment structure, and the preservation process may differ slightly from wedding or event bookings.
If you’re considering preserving memorial flowers, please reach out via the enquiry form as soon as you’re able.
You don’t need to have all the details worked out, I’ll guide you gently through what’s possible and the next steps.
Your flowers, and the story they hold, will be treated with the utmost care and respect.

Preserving Memorial Flowers
Once the flowers arrive, each bloom is carefully and respectfully assessed before being gently pressed and dried. This is a slow, considered process, allowing the flowers the time they need to preserve as beautifully as possible.
Drying typically takes up to 10 weeks, depending on the flowers and the season. Once complete, I carefully rebuild each bloom and begin preparing your piece, this step can take 2-3 weeks. I’ll be in touch by email to let you know when this stage begins and when your piece is nearing completion.
Photographs, memorial cards, or other meaningful mementos can be included upon request.
When everything is ready, I’ll create the final layout and share a photo with you for approval. Small adjustments can be made at this stage if needed. Once approved, your piece is secured into the frame and allowed time to settle.
I’ll then contact you to arrange local collection or postage. If posting is required, I’m happy to carefully package and lodge your frame with Australia Post on your behalf. Postage costs and responsibility sit with the customer once the item has been sent. Full details are available in the Delivery & Returns Policy.
